THE HERITAGE TRAIL

When visiting Erskine in Island Bay, you can follow Erskine’s roads and walkways (named for Sacré Coeur nuns) to discover convent school life through the grounds. Our thanks to supplier

Wilde Signs NZ, who were awarded with a Silver Medal in the category of Wayfinding Signage at the NZ Sign and Display Industry Awards (NZSDA) for this project.

Next time you visit the chapel, make sure to check out these signs, located throughout the development. They beautifully outline its history of Erskine Chapel,  and will benefit future generations by preserving and sharing the important legacy of Erskine College.

Outside the Reverend Mother’s Garden, the original gates have been restored and connect with the remnant stone wall that boundaried the College, now echoed in ground paving.

The Convent Building foundation stone and footprint outline are remembered in paving throughout Erskine grounds and can be seen on the southern end of Jean Caldwell Way running North/South.

Following Erica Pabst Way takes you to the original location of the Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto.
